Bookings and Talks

My kindergarten class had the pleasure of hearing IntersectionAllies read to them by the book’s three authors! Not only did my students connect their own lives to parts of the story, but Chelsea, LaToya, and Carolyn also made the book come to life with interactive questions, personal stories, and engaging activities. My students could see themselves in the book and left knowing how to be an ally, even at the age of 5! I can’t say enough about the importance of this book for young learners!

My 3rd-grade students absolutely adored the IntersectionAllies book! In particular, they loved the varied representations of different identities as well as their ability to connect with the characters in the text. The book sparked engaging and critical conversations—I saw a significant shift in how students interacted with each other after reading this book. This is a MUST-have in your library!

CLC Collective is a partnership of three women of color scholars committed to producing creative, relatable, and engaging sociology for all ages.

Most academic research is inaccessible and loaded with jargon, but as researchers whose projects rely on the generous participation of folks marginalized by race, class, gender, and citizenship status, Carolyn, LaToya and Chelsea each felt a moral imperative to collaborate with broader audiences, including children. Since forming CLC Collective in 2017, they’ve spoken at companies like Google and Univision, as well as public libraries, universities, and schools across the nation.
